United Way Board Best Practices Training

08/30/2017   9:00 AM - 4:00 PM   EST

Description: Quality board training often gets lost in the shuffle of day-to-day operations. We want educated and engaged board members - in fact, we know that the success of each local United Way depends on it. New board members, current members, and staff are invited to join us for an immersive training that explores the mission, history, best practices, and inner workings of how United Ways improve lives and advance the common good. Get an overview of organizational structure and history, take a deep dive into two round table discussions on topics of your choice, and learn about the roles and responsibilities of board members. Comments from past attendees: "A fantastic opportunity to introduce board members to the organization and to hear from someone other than the executive director what their roles and responsibilities are. Would love to do again and have the rest of my board members attend. Thank You!" "Great job! Impressive group of volunteers and staff with ideas, missions for their own United Ways, and genuine passion for their communities." Agenda: Maureen Noe, President of Indiana United Ways, will present an overview of the mission, vision and business model of UW Worldwide, your state association (IUW), and your local UW. Participants will have the opportunity to attend two of four round table discussions facilitated by regional UW experts in the following fields: Marketing Fundraising Finance Community Impact The Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network will facilitate a panel discussion and Q&A session with all four experts. INRN will present an interactive training on board best practices.
